Foot in My Mouth

Sometimes (OK, a lot of the times), I say things without thinking. Yesterday was one of those days. Every year we have a significant others medical school potluck at the Dean's house. Dean Pearson is awesome and we have had a lot of fun getting to know him & his wife through these functions. Anyway, Dean Pearson asked Ryan and I how things are going during this last year. Ryan said that he was currently enjoying Opthamology. I piped in, "And I love how he's getting home at noon!" Ryan joking says, "Shhhh!" and the other 4th years look away in dismay as Dean Pearson looks at me with confusion and shock. Apparently, Dean Pearson didn't realize Opthamology was letting them go at noon. They're "supposed" to stay until 5:00. Oops! I want to apologize beforehand to all of those who have not done this rotation yet if it the hours are suddenly enforced!
