Ok...so here's the real story:
Ryan and I get lost...all the time. Neither of us have a very good sense of direction and if we've never been there before it's a recipe for disaster. The Schill's (good people of the C-ville 2nd ward) offered to let us borrow their canoes & to have a "free date". We love "free" so we took up their offer. We'd never been to the Schill's or to Beaver Creek. Marianne gave us AWESOME directions (& mapquest) so we got right to their house...beautiful home in a gorgeous wooded area. What I'd give... Anyway, we tried to mapquest our way to Beaver Creek, but unfortunately it only gave us vague directions. Mike drew us a map from memory so we thought we were set. WRONG. We wondered around for over an hour! (it's only 10 minutes from their house) Josh was crying & screaming from being in the car for too long. Ryan's patience was on the verge...we went here and there and asked MORE people for directions. They all gave different ways with different street names. We were a mess. We passed a Dairy Queen. We thought that if we don't make it, at least we can be rewarded from our effort with Butterfinger Blizzards. That seemed to relax Josh as well. Of course when we pulled into the DQ parking lot, he had fallen asleep from screaming exhaustion. But, he ate some ice cream and looked at the cup and named all the letters he knew. DQ employees explained how to get there and...walla...we made it (we did take one more wrong turn, though). Sadly, by the time we got there it was 11:30. Josh was SO tired. I had to sing to him on the canoe to keep him from crying. We ate our picnic lunch & headed back. We enjoyed the canoe....but we have a feeling that next time we go IT WILL be much better. The plan: Canoeing after the afternoon nap.
