Hematologist---Part III

Well, I had my Hematology appointment today. It was quite a bit different than I had expected. The last time I had talked with the doctor, I was told that I was Protein S deficient. OK...that was my first diagnosis right before I got pregnant with Joshua. That was why I was on Lovenox shots, a blood thinner. But, my platelet count had dropped so I got retested, just in case it was a fluke. Well, it wasn't.
As she looked over my test results, the doctor said that she is ruling out Protein S Deficiency. It is likely that I have a bleeding disorder, instead, which means that I will NOT be on a blood thinner during my next pregnancy. But, they took more blood and will be running MORE tests. Nothing is certain at this point. Things may change, too, as my future OB/GYN (high risk) and Hematologist will work together to make the best decision for any future baby. But, I may end up taking blood thinner shots, whenever I happen to get pregnant. The test results should (hopefully) be able to tell. I will see her again in 2 months for a discussion of these new test results.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we start yet another journey to find out what is wrong with my platelets.
