One Week Old

Sorry about the lack of blogging. I know there are a few anxious people out there wondering what has happened. We got to take Nathan home on Thursday afternoon. After being admitted into the NICU, they have high requirements to get them out, so we feel extremely safe to know that our babe is doing well.

I always tend to forget how hard it is to have lack of sleep. I love my sleep and having that interrupted makes me somewhat of a less happy person. We are so glad that Nathan is here and that he is a good baby so far. He hardly fusses and sleeps A LOT. I remember that Joshua slept a lot those first 3 months. When I talked to the doctor about it, he told me that he slept a lot because he was growing. And boy did Josh grow. So, I'm anticipating a sleepy baby for the next little while.

Josh is doing fine with "baby butter". He likes to rub his head and face, and play with his hands and feet. He can be a little rough with him, but he seems to have adjusted somewhat in the last 48 hours. I'm a little nervous for when my mom leaves. She has been a lifesaver for me and I've gotten a lot more rest because of her. My sister comes in about 5 days and will be here for a week as well. When all relatives have left, I'll reassess Josh's reaction to the new baby. I have a feeling it will be somewhat unpleasant. "Hope for the best, but expect the worst".

Anyway, here's a few pictures for all you picture hungry people.

What a cutie! Please let me know if Josh wants a play date. I know having your mom and sister come you are well covered, but we would be happy to have Josh over any time. (That is as soon as we finally kick this virus, I am so tired of it and desperate to see Nathan!). Glad your home, and you look great. Thanks for the pictures.

He's so cute! Good luck on the sleep thing. That's the hard part with the 2nd child - You can't always sleep when they sleep because suddenly you have a 2-year-old that is wide awake! He is absolutely adorable, and I think you look downright H-O-T for having a week-old baby! Congrats!

He is adorable! My one piece of advise I heard that I stored away for when I have my second is try to take care of the older one first when they are both crying. The older one will remember you putting them first and feel less animosity towards the younger one. Let me know if it works (:

I enjoyed reading the story of the birth and sure glad little Nathan is doing well. I love the "baby butter" that is so cute. I love sleep too. Last night went to bed at 10 and woke up at 9. I am going to sleep as much as I can until this next one is born. I am glad he is a good sleeper. Your pictures are great- you look great, he is adorable- and wow what a great family :) I'm so happy for you guys. I know the next few months will be hard, but you are such a fantastic mom and Nathan is lucky to have you! And Ryan, I guess you're not so bad either :)

What a beautiful little boy. I'm glad he is doing okay. Isn't it so fun to have a new little one around? It's hard to enjoy it when you are so tired though. But they grow too fast, although it's fun that Wesley is starting to coo, smile and giggle a lot more. It's all fun. Congratulations!
