I know I have about a million posts to catch up on & I will get to that...when I have more time...but I wanted to share what happened at church on Sunday.
We were sitting in our Relief Society / Priesthood combined lesson and a brethren came in and said, "There's a man that just walked into our building with a weapon and the police are searching for him. I think it best to just stay put until he is caught."
Ryan and I turned toward each other, scared for our Josh who was in nursery.
We uncomfortably sat through the lesson, as my mind wandered to Columbine HS, and the shootings at Virginia Tech. Scaaaaary.
Then, they caught the man but couldn't find his weapon. He had stashed it somewhere in the building. The police kept searching through the garbage cans in the rooms, the bathrooms, and everywhere that was accessible.
I never heard word, but the police left with the man and I'm sure they found that gun.
When I picked up Josh from Nursery, I talked with his teachers about it. They said that we never need to worry about our kids. They would have taken a bullet for them.
I'm grateful, ever so grateful, that nothing came of this.

WHAT!!!! Are you serious? That is scary. Everyone ok? Hey, and how do you do the turkey thing on your blog?
That's insane! I would be freaking out! I'm sorry you had to go through that.
That is so scary. I'm glad that everything turned out well. I wonder what he wanted?
OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!! I did not hear about this!!! I have tears in my eyes..... I'm sure I'll get more details from you,,, but OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE HECK!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is out of control!!! That would be so hard to just sit and wait and not go run to your kids! I'm sure there were a lot of earnest prayers being said (by young and old!). What a crazy world we live in! Who spotted the guy and called the police? I am glad they got there fast enough!
That is SO SCARY! I am glad to hear that everything and everyone is okay! But So sad that you and Ryan had to go through that! Wow!
Holy Cow! That is so scary. We're so glad that you are all safe.
Ya, I was surprised that everyone just sat there calmly and continued on with the lesson. Luckily I had Alissa with me but if she was in nursery I probably would have been freaking out! I'm glad they caught him a couple minutes later!!!
Wow Kim. I am SO glad nothing terrible happened!!
Jas- I know, right? I was sitting there thinking, "are we not even going to address this? why is the lesson still being taught?" It was weird. But I heard that Mary Lee was closing her eyes, probably saying an earnest prayer and as we all know, her prayers get answered. :)
Janeen- Everyone is fine. No one even was threatened. I heard he ran in there for a safe haven.
Mom- I think he was already caught by the police and he escaped---maybe from the police car? He ran into the church and someone said they heard him safe, "Safe Haven" when he walked in. I think he was just trying to find refuge. But I'm glad we weren't taken as hostages. It could've been bad.
Emily- Like I said above, I don't think anyone called the police. They seemed to just follow him in.
Janeen- Go to the website, "thecutestblogontheblock.com" and choose "free backgrounds". It explains it all from there.
Oh my goodness, Kim. We live in a crazy world. I am glad you guys were OK.
Man there are a lot of comments on here.
Wow! That is really really scary! You were definitely being protected! I can't imagine being that teacher who had to finish the lesson!
oh my word, i would've died...i'm SO glad you were safe. but it would've been awful knowing my child wasn't with me.
I don't know how you sat there with your little Josh in nursery! I am so, so, so happy (and completely relieved) that everything turned out okay.
