Good Books

I need some good book suggestions. I'm not an avid reader, but I'm in the mood for something to enjoy; I typically like historical fiction or fiction. I'm not in the mood for romance, so please don't suggest anything cheesy like "The Time Traveler's Wife". Thank you in advance.

If you like historical fiction, check out Ann Rinaldi. She's one of my new favorite authors. The one I just read was called "In My Father's House" about the civil war. Her books are more for young adult age, but it makes it a fun, easy, interesting and educational read!

Okay, weird, but I clicked on your post on Bloglines and read a longer one, and then clicked to come to your actual blog and comment, and now there's only the book question. I answered that on FB, but I just wanted to tell you I'm glad you vented and I'm sorry it's such a rough time. I have a good friend here who's husband's an OB resident--same year as Ryan, so I've seen first-hand the crazy schedule and the toll it takes on the whole family. I'm sorry, and I hope it gets better soon. Enjoy next weekend when he's home and take advantage of kind friends and all the help you can get. Take time for yourself. I wish I could give more words of wisdom or say something that will make it all better, but I haven't been there (yet) so maybe you'll have to be the one to talk me through it in a couple years! Here's hoping the next rotation is MUCH better!

Here are a couple of books I've liked reading...
Eve's Daughters by Lynn Austin
Gods and Kings by Lynn Austin
They are both historical fiction, I am not a fan of romance either! Let me know if you read them
and tell me what you think!

I just read The Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Pie Society for my book club. I really liked it (and it's historical fiction). ;)

I recently read "Three Cups of Tea" and it is about a mountain climber who end up building schools in Pakistan after getting lost during a descent. It's nonfic. but the book moves quickly.

The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. Loved them and they are quick, I mean real quick reads. As fiction as you get. The best book I read recently though is Outliers. Have fun!
