Despite what anyone might think, medical residents do get some time off. And Ryan had his during Valentine's week. We don't have a lot of money, so we did not go on vacation. Ryan simply had the pleasure of living my life, which came off pretty darn good.
Here's the run down (for anyone that cares). Saturday was his post-call day (day of sleep) and when he woke up, we made dinner for the missionaries. That evening, we played a game of Catan. I won (insert smile). Sunday we went to church where I taught my Relief Society lesson (it went well, thank you for asking) and we relaxed. Monday our big outing was the park where we kicked around the soccer ball with the boys. Tuesday we went to the zoo. Super fun. Pictures above. Wednesday I took the kids to a playgroup Valentine's party and that evening we went to the Cheesecake Factory (newly opened) for an early Valentine's date. Thursday we went to the temple in Mesa where some friends of ours from med school (Webbs) watched our boys during the session. Thanks again, Danielle. Friday we woke up and played tennis together at the YMCA and later went to the Asian Market where we found Ryan's favorite drink (guadana) from Brazil. Saturday Josh had his first Primary Activity which he LOVED and afterwards we went shopping at Costco (a favorite). We took the kids to the park again later that day. And everywhere in between we read books, played with the boys, cooked, and watched a bazillion episodes of Battlestar Gallactica. It was a very enjoyable vacation. We relished every minute, and I was reminded of what a good life I live.
